Class 4.1 – Flammable Solids

The emblem indicating Class 4.1 serves as a warning regarding potentially unsafe materials during transportation. Within Class 4.1 are included flammable solids, self-reactive substances, and solid desensitized explosives. These materials, when exposed to conditions encountered in transit, can readily ignite upon contact with sparks or flames. Additionally, there’s a possibility of containing self-reactive substances, both in solid and liquid states, which have the potential to undergo highly exothermic reactions or contribute to fires, even potentially igniting due to friction. Examples of these substances include matches and desensitized explosives. Furthermore, certain substances within this class might require refrigeration as they could become unstable if subjected to warming conditions.
